Outwood Mill – Pitch-In-Picnic Event For Outwood Village

Outwood Village Get Together at Outwood Mill

Mr. & Mrs. Windy Miller (aka Ray & Tracy) would like to cordially invite you all residents of Outwood Village to a village “Pitch In Picnic” at Outwood Windmill on Saturday July 9th, from 2pm onwards.

As many of you know we’ve recently taken up residence at the Windmill and we’d like to get to know all of our fellow villagers better. It’s an opportunity for everyone to participate and come together by bringing something sweet or savoury along to share with everyone else (Hence “Pitch In Picnic”). Additionally perhaps a bottle (or three) of your favourite beverage would add to the occasion.

Of course it’s a great way to get acquainted with the Windmill if you haven’t had a chance to look around it. Children of all ages are of course welcome. We’ll have some entertainment and activities lined up for the day so there’ll be plenty of fun and things to tire out the kids (and the adults too!).

This is an “Outwood Only” event and we’d ask that you would drop us a line at this email address – outwoodmill@gmail.com so that we can get an idea of numbers.

There is no charge for admission as this is a community event designed to help the village come together and have a day of fun and get reconnected with its oldest resident and grand old lady – Outwood Mill

We look forward to meeting you all and enjoying a fun afternoon with you.

Outwood Post Mill – Sponsors St.Lawrence Fair

Outwood Mill is a St.Lawrence Fair Sponsor

For over 700 years the Sussex Village of Hurstpierpoint has held the St.Lawrence Fair and this year its looking to be bigger than ever.

Outwood Mill was invited to be a major sponsor as the organisers felt that we had an affinity with the village due to it being the location of the famous “Jack & Jill” windmills often shown in Sussex tourist guides. Sadly those windmills are no longer operative and are in provate hands.

Outwood mills’ very own “Windy Miller” (aka Ray) has been “roped in” (pardon the pun) to be on the Tug Of War team by the organisers. It’s an event for which much training is being entered into by the team! (Not!).

St. Lawrence fair is always a fun day out and its great to support other villages in their traditional and historic fairs. Outwood Mill is proud to be a Sponsor.

Outwood Mill Bigfoot Cycle Club Bromley Visit Windmill Surrey Tourist Attration

Outwood Mill plays host to Bromley Bigfoot Cycling Club.

On Sunday 1st may 2011 over 60 Cycling Enthusiasts descended on Outwood Mill, the cyclists, all members of the hugely popular Bigfoot Cycle Club of Bromley, kent decided that Outwood Mill would be the perfect “rest stop” on their cycle outing to Brighton and back, a round trip of 114 miles.

Outwood Mill welcomed the cyclists and they were met at the Mill by their support cars where they able to refresh, take a breather, get some well deserved energy foods and use the facilities before setting off again for the run to Brighton.

The colourful cycles and clothing worn by the members made a nice contrast between ancient and modern at the mill and many members tooks a look around Outwood Post Mill and had their photos taken for posterity.

The organisers of the event had contacted the team at Outwood Mill just a week before and we were happy to open the Windmill at 8:30 to accomodate the cyclists.

We look forward to seeing the Bromley Bigfoot Club again in the future and if you are a member of a cycling club and would like to drop in at Outwood Mill as a rest stop then please do not hesitate to contact us.
